My favourite movie
It's always difficult for me to decide on my favourite things, I usually just choose the three that I like the most without an order. But since I need to decide this time, after a lot of thought I think my favourite would be "Toki wo kakeru shoujo" that literally means The girl who leapt through time, it's a 2006 anime movie directed by Mamoru Hosoda, who also directed many other movies that I like a lot. The film is a loose sequel to the 1967 novel of the same name by Yasutaka Tsutsui. Basically, the film is about a girl that one day after an incident gains the power of time travel, discovering it later in the same day. After she understands how this ability works she keeps going back in time for trivial reasons, but whenever she avoids to suffer, someone else suffers in another ways instead of her, by the butterfly effect.
The movie doesn't stands out for its art nor the soundtrack, but for its story. I really like the message it delivers, that everything you make has consequences and a phrase that appears in more than one scene that says "Time waits for no one you know".
I love the first movie you mentioned, I also love the fact that the movie has such a profound message, I would watch that movie a thousand times.
ReplyDeleteHow cool that both movies are about travelling in the past
